As I sit here reflecting on last night’s Startup Canada Awards held in Edmonton, I am grateful to be surrounded by so many inspiring people not only here in Edmonton but from across Canada. On May 13, Startup Canada started by recognizing a group of inspirational entrepreneurs in Vancouver with regional award events across Canada in the coming weeks.
Last night, Startup Canada honoured some of Alberta’s entrepreneurs with some well-deserved recognition. It is a great opportunity to applaud those awarded, those nominated, and most importantly those who get up every day, pound the pavement, and work so intently on reaching the next milestone along their entrepreneurial journey. Last night, Startup Canada graciously awarded the Valhalla Private Capital team with some of that recognition!
Although our roots date back to 2003, and having been re-founded in 2017 Valhalla Private Capital is also on a similar journey. To quote one of our co-founder Kristina Milke, who graciously spoke on behalf of the team, “This has been an amazing journey and we’re growing fast and strong. We started this journey with a vision to support the full life-cycle of the entrepreneur and it is working. This award is a testament to our vision, and we look forward to sharing our progress as we continue to execute.”
The evening in my mind was summarized in quote that Brent H. Zettl, founder of Zyus Life Sciences and recipient of Entrepreneur of the Year said in his comments, “Love what you do and do what you love.”
We are more than honoured to be the recipient of Startup Canada’s 2019 award for Entrepreneur Support for the Prairies and recognized for doing what we love, supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem not only in Canada but around the globe!
